Information about historical Lockington
The Parish Council are very grateful to Mr Roger Hateley for undertaking a review of the Parish Council minutes from 1894 to 2025, creating an excellent synopsis of the detailed minutes over 130 years.
LOCKINGTON BOOKS
There have been three books written about the Village;
1. The Story of a Village (2002) by Mr. Roger Hateley. This book was updated in 2018 and Mr Hateley has kindly given his permission to display this book on the Parish Council website (see link below). It is a fascinating read.
2. Houses & Homesteads in Lockington (2017) – Copies available at £4 – this includes a free December 2020 Insert/Update which is also available to anyone who wants to keep their existing copy up to date (please call at 10A Thorpe). Any surplus to Cancer Research.”
3. An Illustrated History of the Lockington Parish (2018). Unfortunately, this was a limited print run given the cost per/copy and no copies are currently available (or likely to be unless the demand exceeded 50 copies). However, Mr Roger Hateley and Mr Kevin Marshall have kindly given permission for an electronic copy to be stored on the web site (see link below). The paintings on the front and back cover of this book (as illustrated) were generously donated by Mary Dews of Church Lane.
